Meet the Head and Staff
A Message from the Head
Welcome to Lanesborough's website. Lanesborough’s academic reputation is well known, but it is our warm and purposeful atmosphere that particularly strikes most visitors. It sets us apart from many other good prep schools. I hope that you enjoy looking at the website and that it will inspire you to come and visit us - it is only then that you will be able to see us as we really are.
We believe passionately in educating boys and allowing them to grow into strong and secure young men through specialist teaching from staff who really understand the needs of boys. We know that boys who are happy and confident in their surroundings are able to learn more effectively. Throughout his time with us, each boy is valued and well cared for by dedicated staff who are able to give excellent individual attention in small classes averaging sixteen. Teaching our boys academic rigour, combined with traditional manners, allows them to grow into confident, caring and successful young men.
Our vision is also to develop qualities that cannot be measured by academic assessment alone. For example, we have an excellent music department, with unique links to Guildford Cathedral. Equally important are our outstanding sport, art and drama departments which encourage all boys to explore a wide range of activities. The development of interpersonal skills, team spirit, strong self-awareness, leadership potential and stamina is achieved through a comprehensive programme. It includes a varied and exciting extra-curricular timetable. I do hope that you will look at our recent ISI Inspection Report which details the outstanding personal development that we offer our boys.
The warmth of the Lanesborough community and the enthusiasm of the staff and boys give it a unique character. Do come and see for yourself!
I look forward to meeting you soon,
