Lanesborough Parents' Association
The Lanesborough Parents Association (LPA) is the school’s parent voluntary association which supports the boys, the school and the parent community in a number of ways.
We organise a number of fun and fundraising events throughout the school year. The Summer Fair is a regular fixture in the school calendar as is our Easter Bazaar in the Trinity Term. Both these events are fundraisers for LPA funds, which are spent primarily on equipment for the boys or other wish list items identified by the LPA or staff. Recently we have been thrilled to approve the purchase of, amongst other things, outdoor table tennis tables, trikes, bikes and go-karts well as costumes for the drama department and carved values trees to be displayed in both school sites. We have also been able to commit funds to improving the storage and display of second-hand uniform to make it easier and more convenient to sell to parents.
A perennial favourite event with the boys is the Christmas Fair where the boys purchase presents for their family, friends and pets! The money raised at this event is donated to the boys’ chosen charity for that academic year.
The LPA also organises social events for parents. There are some whole school events such as the Quiz Night and we have a bi-annual Summer Ball. In addition, class reps are encouraged to arrange class or year group social events such as coffee mornings or evening drinks. Some also arrange theatre trips or family or dads and boys camping weekends.
Each class usually has one or two (sometimes more) class reps who facilitate class communications and activities but also represent their class at LPA meetings and support the LPA committee. The meetings take place twice a term where we discuss forthcoming events, fundraising initiatives and any other items of interest for the parent community. If you would be interested in finding out more about being a class rep or helping the LPA in anyway then we would love to hear from you – mums and dads! The success of the LPA and its activities for the boys and the wider school community depends on the continued support of parents arranging and attending the events. Just volunteering to spend a morning helping in the uniform shop, taking a slot on a stall rota at the fair or bazaar or staying for half an hour to help clear up makes a huge difference.
Last year the LPA launched the use of Classlist.com for Lanesborough parents. Classlist.com is a private and secure website, which is GDPR compliant. As well as providing mobile-friendly class lists and contact details for your year group, it enables you to communicate with your year group and can facilitate the organisation of social events. Parents can share as much as or as little contact information with other parents as they like and can even keep their own email address private whilst still receiving messages. The LPA also uses Classlist for communication to parents.
If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with anything related to the LPA then please do email any of the LPA committee or via Classlist.
