Michaelmas Sports Report 2015
The Michaelmas term has seen Lanesborough boys enjoy some great team play and competition on the football field.
Every boy in the school has had the opportunity to represent the school against local opposition from around Hampshire and Surrey. In turn every boy has played with a real sense of pride and a determination to do their best; a real attribute no matter what the standard or ability of each team.
Wins, losses and draws have all been part of the competitive season, with some teams deserving an individual mention. The U8 A team have performed particularly well across the season, not losing a single domestic fixture and beating some very reputable teams in Feltonfleet, Aldro and Rokeby.
Particular credit must also go to a very determined U13 1st team football group. After some tough initial losses to the likes of Aldro and Feltonfleet, the boys recorded a number of very toughly fought wins over Edgeborough, Ripley, St Edmunds, Milbourne Lodge and finally a brilliant victory over Rokeby.
The last specific mention of this report must go to the U11 A team who were, perhaps, the most successful Lanesborough football team of this decade! The team played a brilliant brand of football all season, beating the likes of Cumnor House, Feltonfleet, Hoebridge, Parkside, City of London Freemans, as well as this years IAPS 6s champions Yateley Manor. After these impressive victories they went on to meet and beat their, up-to-then, unbeaten rivals, Cranmore, in a 6:4 thriller, thus making the final of the Surrey Cup against KCJS, something that has never been done before by Lanesborough. The team played well, eventually losing in a close 3:1 game to a very worthy KCJS side. A brilliant season and well done to all the boys that took part!
