Letter from the Chancellor

My letter from the Chancellor
In English year 6 have been learning to write formal business letters and many other types of writing. To begin with we annotated an example letter to learn about the different features of a letter (the date, address and so forth.) Then it was our turn. We first had to gather research from a newspaper or news site on a topic that interested us. As I was interested in business and politics and knew that the latest figures were coming out that day I chose the economy. In class time I analysed the data and began to figure out what improvements the government should make, just like the real Chancellor. Then it was time to write the letter in my best handwriting and send it off.
To begin with I was not expecting a reply but when the reply came I was overjoyed. What’s more George Osborne had either just implemented my suggestions or was about to! But my favourite part of his reply was when he said I should consider, later, applying for an advisory role in the Treasury!
This was a great experience for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
