Year 7 boys visit Parliament at Westminster on a very auspicious day!
We battled our way through the barrage of photographers, to the relative sanctuary of the Education centre! Whilst our boys enjoyed a tour of the two houses, MP’s could be seen preparing for the debate. We participated in our own work shop about ‘Making Laws’ and the boys ably debated their own ‘amendment’ to the ‘Brexit’ bill! We later heard that the Commons had overturned two House of Lords amendments that aimed to protect the rights of EU citizens living in the UK. It all seemed to make more sense, having earlier seen the stage being set. We also enjoyed meeting Jamie Hodsdon, from the office of Anne Milton, who as an ex Lanesborough boy himself was an inspiration to the boys. Walking back to Waterloo, we reflected on our good fortune to be living in a country that upholds the values of democracy and rule of law!
