Year 4 and Local Charities
We were thrilled to welcome Debbie Boulter on 23rd February, who came to talk to us about the work of one of our local charities.
Earlier this term, Year 4 had researched the charities which their families supported. The work produced proved how much discussion had taken place within the home. We were, therefore, thrilled to welcome Debbie Boulter on 23rd February, who came to talk to us about the work of one of our local charities. Boys have willingly shared their work and their stories.
Cherry Trees in East Clandon provides respite care for children and young people with severe learning and physical disabilities. Year 4 heard how these children want to be independent and the boys learnt some Makaton signs which the Cherry Trees children use to communicate. The boys also heard about a special charity event on April 2nd when Guildford would be lit in blue lights to raise awareness for Autism.
