Year 8 End of Term Pantomimes
‘Pantomania’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’ performed in the Lanesborough Gym on 14 December 2016 for the whole school and Year 8 parents.
Comments from boys involved:
In the pantomime I was the King. This meant I had more than 2 lines to remember and had to frantically change my complicated costume mid-way. I was also backstage for ‘Pantomania’ – the first pantomime – so I could hear the audience’s amazing reactions without much prompting. (Alastair S)
I loved it! It was so different from ‘Hiawatha’. The make-up and costumes had everyone laughing – including the cast. It made us smile when we saw how much the audience enjoyed it. (Nico W-S)
I enjoyed being a ‘heavy-footed fairy’. Many of my friends played the same role which meant I could enjoy myself without feeling self-conscious. (Freddie E-J)
The rehearsals were hard work but worth it. All the costumes were great, but most of all I loved my freckles and my wig! (Joe D)
Being a ‘heavy-footed fairy’ took dedication. I had wild red lipstick, a fake moustache and a brightly coloured tutu. My favourite part was coming on stage and the audience laughing at my hilarious make-up. The small puns paid off as the atmosphere of the audience showed. (Finn R)
I loved playing the part of a ‘good fairy’ as the audience laughed so much when we came on. I particularly like the Queen, Freddie Lacey, as he was as unfeminine as you could get! (Lawrence D)
I loved having a main role – Mischief – the villain of ‘Sleeping Beauty’. The make-up and costumes were amazing. It was a superb experience. (Harry E)
Despite not having a main role being a ‘heavy-footed fairy’ made the audience chuckle with the clever jokes and moves. I would definitely do it again! (Dougal S)
In ‘Pantomania’ I played Widow Twankey, the Dame. I had a very silly costume with a huge wig, a loudly coloured dress and everything I wore covered in gaudy clothes pegs. I had a great amount of make-up on too. I hugely enjoyed the experience. (Finn G)
