Year 3 Activities Week
Updates from Year 3 Activities Week.
Year 3 had an immersive and engaging Roman Day led by Titus, a visiting Roman centurion. The children were put through their paces, learning about formations, drills and gained an insight into the Roman invasion of Britain, as well as having the chance to handle genuine artefacts and play a traditional board game. A fabulous effort was made by all the boys with costumes and weaponry. Ad victoriam!
Today we visited Dapdune Wharf and the boys used their orienteering skills to navigate the local area, as well as going on a scavenger hunt to find natural materials. They were then taught how to lash twigs together to create a frame for a woven piece of natural art. The boys then spent a highly-entertaining afternoon bowling at the Spectrum. A great time was had by all!
“Sublime!”, “Marvellous!”, “Absolutely excellent!”, “Brilliant!”, “Fantastic!”
Some of the adjectives used by the boys to describe their day today. The boys entered a world of futuristic creativity building Lego WeDo fairground rides and Robot Wars battle-bots with the infamous John from Robot Wars, the creator of Matilda and Ripper. They practised many skills including: creativity, problem solving, perseverance and much teamwork. It was marvellously mind-blowing!
