Oliver Twist Auditions
HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO “PICK A POCKET OR TWO” ?
From October 2018 until Spring 2019 Godalming Theatre Group is presenting a Family Season featuring ‘Local live theatre for every age group’. This season of productions has been planned to encourage an interest and involvement in live theatre for the young, young adults, the not so young and everything in between.
A key production in this family orientated season is Oliver which will run from Tues 9 – Sun 14 April 2019. With music, lyrics and book by Lionel Bart, this well-known much loved musical needs no introduction and will be directed by well-known thespian and founder member of GTG David Dray and local actor/director, Andrew Culley. This autumn auditions are taking place to find talented local boys aged 9 – 14 years to perform as Workhouse children and members of Fagin’s gang.
The show’s Production Manager and GTG’s Child Protection Officer Madeleine Gibb says “All children who secure roles in the show will be licenced in accordance with Surrey County Council Child Employment regulations. Community productions are subject to the same laws as children performing in professional shows. GTG shows are produced to the highest standards and taking part will require a high level of commitment to rehearsals from January onwards from both children and their parents. This is a fantastic opportunity to audition to be part of a Group known for producing some of the finest community theatre in Surrey. Successful children will also be eligible to join our thriving Youth Section GYTG.”
GTG first staged Oliver in 1974 and that production starred their now President Ben Elton as the Artful Dodger and this new production’s director David Dray as Fagin! So who knows where the young stars of this planned 2019 production might end up!
The final round of auditions take place on Wednesday 7th November at 7pm.
