Lanesborough Kindness Rewarded
As part of our Anti-Bullying Week 2016, the boys set themselves a challenge of achieving over 60 recognised acts of kindness towards each other in 5 days.
Boys added entries onto the Kindness Wall detailing information about what happened and who was kind towards them. Unsurprisingly, the wall was completed in less than 5 school days. It was great to read about all the sorts of kindness shown by boys to each other and also to see boys getting recognition and appreciation for something that we expect as normal day to day behaviour.
This was a marvellous opportunity for the boys to recognise just how many lovely things are done for them by their peers, often which may go unappreciated, other than just saying ‘thank you’. Some boys appeared on the Kindness Wall numerous times during the week and they have been rewarded with a Head’s Commendation for Good Behaviour in our Good News Assembly. These went to Umun A, Peter H, Ollie J, Oli T, Luke C and Freddie EJ.
In our half termly school council meeting, the councilors fed back to say how enthusiastic the classes were to continue with the challenge so it will be repeated in individual classes in the run up to Christmas.
Examples of kind acts that made it onto the Kindness Wall were:
“Freddie passed the ball to me during the game in football so that I could score my hat trick.”
“Adam helped me in DT when I struggled.”
“Freddie assisted my winning goal when he could have scored himself.”
“Ollie gave up his lunch break to take me to the office.”
