Hot off the Press!
News from the Year 8 Spanish trip.
There is frost on the ground here this morning! Understand you have had a spot of weather yourselves. We have had a great time and are excited to be coming home. Yesterday, the boys tried archery, team-building games, and aerobics, and some of us walked into Navarredonda for the Treasure Hunt in Spanish. The improvement in the boys' speaking and listening in the language is noticeable, and they have also really gelled as a Year Group, with everyone gaining in confidence and showing great application and manners. We have a final few hours in Madrid now before the airport and home. Hasta la proxima Gredos!
What a fantastic first full day in the mountains. The group divided: 8R wrote and taped short films in Spanish that ranged from a comic nature documentary to an advert for fruit (!), while 8L first tackled the high ropes and then undertook un paseo ecologico (a nature walk). In the afternoon, 8R did the ropes and the nature walk while 8R cooked authentic tortilla española and then completed a Spanish treasure hunt in Navarredonda de Gredos. The teachers are confident everyone will sleep well tonight!
Year 8 arrived safely in Spain ready to immerse themselves in the culture of this beautiful country! Our first stop was the walled town of the Knights Templar, Avila, where Mrs Mendoza ensured we were fuelled with churros for the climb to the top of the walls. The boys loved the views in the afternoon sunshine. Our coach has now begun the climb into the Gredos Mountains; we can't wait for la cena!
