Sports Hall Opening 2016
Ex-Lanesborough boy and Olympic gold medallist, George Nash, came back to Lanesborough to talk to our current pupils and officially open our new Sports Hall.
On the 22nd September 2016, ex-Lanesborough boy and Olympic gold medallist, George Nash, came back to Lanesborough to talk to our current pupils and officially open our new Sports Hall.
He was accompanied by Angus Groom, another ex-Lanesborough pupil, who also represented Team GB at the Rio Olympics. Prior to the official opening of the Sports Hall, our boys had the opportunity to meet the pair, ask questions during an assembly and even got to touch the gold medal itself.
The official opening took place in the Sports Hall. Mrs. Turnbull spoke to an audience of pupils, staff and special guests. These included the architects and teams behind the building project, together with the two former Head of Sports, Mr. Pearce, and Mr. Stiven, who have now had changing rooms named after them in dedication to their time spent leading and inspiring many generations of boys here at Lanesborough, including George and Angus themselves.
It was a wonderful day, and the whole school would like to say a massive thank you to George and Angus, for making the day so special.
