Big Drawings September 2014
The first Saturday of the year was our first Scholars’ Saturday and what a way to start the year! Ian arrived with a box of vegetables which he had grown himself which the boys were going to draw. They had a good choice! In his usual way, Ian talked to them all about ‘what’ and ‘how’ and the boys then settled down to work.
They were encouraged to let their drawings be as big as they needed too be and it was fascinating to watch the drawings grow with the additions of other bits of paper. Boys worked with black, wax crayons on very good quality sugar paper. We stopped for nibbles mid morning, kindly provided for us by our Head chef and again, for about half an hour for lunch.
The difference in the drawings after the second part of the day was staggering and Ian, parents, boys and I were all in agreement on how well they’d done! I can confidently say that if I took these drawings to a GCSE exhibition, they wouldn’t look out of place – simply fabulous work by the boys: well done!
