Library Sculpture September 2015
Saturday 19th September.
Art Scholars in Years 6-8 were in school for the day to create a sculpture for the Library. They were shown how to make the simple book structures by Ian Shearman, our visiting artist. Working with mount board, the boys had to make a least two ‘books’ before lunch with some boys making three or four!
Lunch was eaten quickly and the afternoon was spent working on the final piece of the sculpture. This was a large book, with a title which was to contain lots of little sculptures hanging to the inside on wires. When in place in the Library, these would hang out of the book. Sam R came up with a great idea of having this large book entitled "The Boys Book of Everything" which meant the making of the sculptures for the inside could be absolutely anything. Which it was!
We had a great day and all the boys felt that they had really accomplished something: well done!
