Admissions to Lanesborough
We know how important it is to find a school that suits your son. Lanesborough is well known as a centre of academic excellence and rightly so, but that only paints part of the picture and there is so much more to be explored. We recommend that you take a Virtual Visit, join us on one of our Open Mornings or simply have a chat with us to discover if Lanesborough is a school where your son will thrive.
Your first point of contact is with our Admissions & Marketing Secretary, Mrs Kinder, who can be contacted by email or by calling 01483 880489.
We have three main points of entry; Nursery, Shell (Reception) and Year 3 but also invite families of other Year Groups to call Admissions to discuss their needs as there are occasional places.
All boys who would like to join Lanesborough will be assessed. To include your son in this process, you will need to register him with us. There is a £75 registration fee (payable online) and once registered, you will be notified of when your son's assessment will take place. (Please note, our registration fee will be £100 from 1 September 2021).
Dates and what is involved
Nursery boys are assessed on a Saturday in the January prior to their September start date.
Shell boys are assessed on a Saturday in the Autumn term prior to their September start date.
Boys applying for Nursery or Shell will be invited in to spend some time individually with a teacher who will assess their ability through age-appropriate, play based tasks.
Year 3 boys are assessed early in the Autumn term.
Boys will be assessed academically through a variety of online and written tasks for Mathematics, English and General Ability.
Other Year Groups
Ad hoc assessments will be arranged at appropriate times.
We look forward to hearing from you so that we can share the wonderful atmosphere and ethos of the Lanesborough School community.
And lastly, you may like to view this short film which shows the journey a boy goes on when entering the school in Pre-Prep, through to his final days leaving in Year 6. It encapsulates the happy atmosphere, energy and vibrancy of life at Lanesborough. We hope you enjoy watching the film and trust it provides you with a window through which you can see just how happy, challenged, and cared for our boys are within the rich and diverse curriculum we offer.
